I’ve been working with Deloitte North-West Europe as a part-time strategic adviser on security and justice since the beginning of 2018. I’ve met people in Deloitte and its clients who have a great deal of passion and commitment to improving services and outcomes, and many of the Deloitte team have a truly unique perspective from having worked with so many policing organisations in the UK in particular.
One of my main efforts in the first part of this year was to lead some work on the future of policing, interviewing and surveying chief officers in a quarter of UK forces, speaking to Deloitte’s international experts and doing a lot of futures thinking and secondary research. The most fun was probably the internal and external workshops.
After a successful launch event with Yvette Cooper, Sara Thornton, Gavin Thomas, Mark Burns-Williamson and Rick Muir (see here), I’m pleased to share the report I co-authored with Deloitte’s UK Policing Lead Richard Hobbs. Find out more here. There is a lot in here and I really do think it’s essential reading for anyone in a senior position in policing in the UK – though I would say that wouldn’t I!
